Introduction to the Reformer Pilates Qualification
This qualification is designed for fitness and movement professionals who want to develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence to safely and effectively deliver one-to-one Reformer Pilates sessions and programmes. It provides a comprehensive foundation in both the theoretical principles and practical application of reformer-based Pilates, enabling learners to meet current industry expectations for high-quality, client-centred instruction.
Learners will gain a deep understanding of the history, evolution, and fundamental principles that underpin the Pilates Reformer method, exploring how traditional concepts translate into modern practice. The qualification supports learners to apply these principles when planning individualised sessions, coaching movement with precision, and adapting exercises to meet a range of client needs, goals, and abilities.
Throughout the course, learners will develop the ability to:

Plan structured Reformer Pilates sessions using safe, progressive and evidence-informed exercise selection.

Deliver one-to-one sessions with clear cueing, effective communication, and a focus on alignment, control, breath, and purposeful movement.

Evaluate client progress and reflect on teaching practice to ensure continuous development and improved session outcomes.

Understand equipment setup, safety checks, and operational requirements for delivering reformer sessions professionally and responsibly.

Apply appropriate modifications, progressions and regressions to suit individual mobility, health considerations, and training goals.
Learners will cover key areas including:

The history and fundamentals of Pilates and the development of the Reformer.

Functional anatomy and biomechanical principles relevant to Pilates movement.

Reformer-specific exercise families, sequences, and programming strategies.

Observation skills, posture analysis, and movement assessment.

By the end of the qualification, learners will be equipped to deliver safe, effective and engaging one-to-one Reformer Pilates programmes, demonstrating the technical competency and professional conduct expected within the industry. And also learn the MK repertoire for reformer.

This qualification has been designed for learners who:
It is recommended that learners have at least six months experience planning and delivering Pilates matwork sessions before taking this qualification.
Progression Routes
Completion of the Level 3 Certificate in Instructing Pilates Studio Reformer: One-to-One enables learners to expand their scope of practice beyond Pilates Matwork and work confidently in studio, boutique, or clinical-style environments.
