Course Description
The Paediatric First Aid (PFA) course is a 2-day comprehensive training programme designed for anyone working with infants, babies, and young children in early years, childcare, educational, and leisure settings.
This course covers both emergency and non-emergency paediatric first aid, including CPR, choking, unresponsive casualty management, minor injuries, illness, and safeguarding considerations. It is the statutory requirement for early years staff under Ofsted/EYFS regulations.
Participants gain the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to respond effectively to a range of paediatric emergencies and everyday incidents.

Assessment & Certification
Assessment is practical, continuous, and scenario-based, ensuring learners can confidently apply skills in real-life situations:

Practical Demonstrations: CPR for infants and children, choking relief, AED use, and casualty management.

Scenario-Based Exercises: Realistic emergency situations test learners’ responses to injuries, sudden illness, and life-threatening emergencies.

Written Knowledge Check: Multiple-choice or short-answer questions to assess understanding of first aid principles, child development, and safeguarding.
Upon successful completion, learners receive a nationally recognised Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for 3 years, which satisfies Ofsted/EYFS requirements. Regular refreshers are recommended to maintain competence.
